MISSION

“iron sharpens iron so one man sharpens another” (proverbs 27: 17)

Our founder Dakotah Charron, believes God has called him to found this mens ministry through his life experiences which have shown the need for community, collaboration and support amongst men. Suffering from broken families and a lack of a father figure growing up God has shown him the need for community, collaboration, and support amongst men.

Above all, though, God has commanded men to gather, as “iron sharpens iron so one man sharpens another” (proverbs 27: 17). Collectively as a brotherhood, we men believe in finding activities, support, and helping one another wear the armour of God.

Ephesians 6

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. 14 Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. 16 In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; 17 and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, 18 praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints, 19 and also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains, that I may declare it boldly, as I ought to speak.

Our Core Pillars

The Arete Project is composed of 3 core pillars which encompass the brotherhood. These are done in the forms of monthly events. The brotherhood is brought together by way of a Facebook Grp & Facebook Chat with essentially 24/7 support for men to help another, pray together, and grow in their Faith in Jesus, together.

Growth.

We believe in growing men and their character to reflect God and the light he has brought to our world. We bring in quarterly leadership education, speakers & activities that are founded upon biblical teachings.

Impact.

We believe in men, servant leaders. Men who believe in impact. We create initiatives for men to serve their communities, family and people through impactful initiatives.

Brotherhood.

“Iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another”, men need other men. Men need a safe space to be vulnerable and to be called to be better as leaders, to be supported and build one another up. We host quarterly events to create a strong bond within the community.

What is Arete?

In the Arete Project, we believe that our moral virtues come directly from God, revealed to us through the Bible. We as men find excellence (Arete) and fulfillment when we grow in our relationship with our Creator and become more like Jesus in the ways we live, lead, and serve. This is truly what Arete is.

Arete in its most basic sense, refers to "excellence" of any kind. this notion of excellence is ultimately bound up with the notion of the fulfillment of purpose or function: the act of living up to one's full potential.

The person of Arete is of the highest effectiveness; they use all their faculties—strength, bravery, and wit—to achieve real results.

The word Arete is bound with Moral virtue. Virtue is a moral excellence. A virtue is a trait or quality that is deemed to be morally good and thus is valued as a foundation of principle and good moral being. Personal virtues are characteristics valued as promoting collective and individual greatness.
